Written for teachers to skim, and equally for students and parents to read directly. This is the whole student experience, including exactly what is recorded, and the longer list of what never is.
Signing in and joining a class
A student’s account starts with a teacher’s invitation, a link that asks for a name and password, nothing more. After that, they sign in, see their classes, and can join another class in the same workspace with its join code. There is nothing for a student to buy, on any plan.
Writing an assignment
Assignments open in the sealed editor: a clean writing surface with formatting tools and a visible recording indicator. Nothing about it is hidden from the student: the indicator is on screen the whole time, because the record is the point, not a trap. Typing, formatting, undo and redo all behave normally. Two things behave differently:
- Pasting prose doesn’t work. A single link pastes fine, files (images, PDFs, audio) attach fine, but pasted text is refused with a clear on-screen notice, and the attempt is noted in the record. Here’s the full reasoning. The short version is that proof the work was written here is the entire product.
- The work should be written in Loam, from the start. Drafting elsewhere and retyping is possible but slower, and the replay will show transcription instead of thinking. Starting in the editor produces better evidence with less effort.
What is recorded
Edits to the assignment document, with their timing: what was typed, deleted, moved and formatted, hashed into a tamper-evident chain and periodically anchored to server time. That record is what lets a teacher replay the writing and verify it’s genuine, and it protects the student as much as anyone: a verified record is the end of “the detector says you cheated”.
What is never recorded
- No camera or microphone. We never ask for either.
- No screen recording, no screenshots, no lockdown browser, no watching other tabs or apps.
- No keystrokes outside the assignment document. What a student types anywhere else on their device is none of our business.
- No typing-rhythm biometrics or identity profiling of any kind.
- No selling data, no advertising, no training AI models on student work.

Handing in
The student submits; the teacher receives the document with its evidence attached. If a question is ever raised about the work, the conversation starts from the replay (what actually happened) rather than from a score nobody can explain.
