When you sign up, Loam sends a verification link to your email address. You can look around before clicking it, but the actions that create real evidence (publishing assignments, receiving student submissions) wait until your address is confirmed.
Why we insist
Two reasons, both boring and both real. First, evidence records are serious artefacts tied to real students, and accounts that hold them need a reachable owner. Second, Loam communicates things you genuinely must receive at that address: above all the retention warnings before any evidence expires on the Free plan. A mistyped email address would mean those warnings vanish into the void, and “we emailed you” is only honest if the address was ever yours.
The email hasn’t arrived
- Check spam and quarantine. School mail systems are enthusiastic filterers. Look in junk, and if your school uses a quarantine digest, look there too.
- Resend it. There’s a resend option where the product asks you to verify. Links expire, so use the newest email.
- Check the address itself. If you typo’d your email at signup, fix it in account settings and resend: the whole point of the exercise is that the address actually reaches you.
- Still nothing? Some school domains block external senders outright. Ask IT whether mail from loam.ink is being dropped, or email us from the affected address at hello@loam.inkand we’ll sort it out.
